So you’re planning a hike of the John Muir Trail? Congratulations! Here’s my two cents on having an enjoyable and successful JMT experience. You can read about my hike as well as some of my prep here or you can follow me on Google+ or Facebook to keep up with my JMT story! Leave a comment if you need advice on something more specific. Enjoy yourself out there!

  • Camp close to the passes and start early to get a lot of elevation done before the heat of the day and avoid afternoon thunderstorms.
  • Take long lunch breaks and enjoy where you are.

  • Hike with others. You’ll learn a lot and have a unique experience. Heck, they might even share a liter of wine they packed in at the hot springs!
